Support Basics in CA
Description
Child support and spousal support are often among the most financially significant elements of a divorce settlement. This sprint introduces the basic framework used in California to determine support obligations and explains how courts evaluate income, parenting time, and other financial factors. Participants gain a practical understanding of the inputs that influence support calculations and how those inputs affect potential outcomes.
The session focuses on helping participants identify and gather the information needed to estimate support scenarios realistically. Participants learn how income sources, childcare expenses, and parenting schedules influence support calculations and how different assumptions can change projected results. By the end of the sprint, participants will have a clear understanding of the data required to analyze support obligations and will be better prepared for discussions with attorneys, mediators, or financial advisors.
